6th Grade News!
Thank you to all the wonderful parents who attended parent teacher conferences. It was so nice to speak to each and every one of you about your child/children. Many students still need to become more organized and come prepared to class. With parent help, I know that this can be accomplished.
Notices were given out at the conferences about being prepared for classes. They explained that to be prepared for all classes, the students must always bring: pencils, paper, agendas, homework, and we are asking all students to bring a personal pencil sharpener. A small plastic one (non-battery operated) with a cover. Many items need to be replaced throughout the year, such as: reams of paper (white preferred, but any color will do), boxes of tissues, and disinfecting wipes.
Thank you again to all parents, for all your support and generosity throughout the year.
SCIENCE:
This past week in science we finished our unit on the hierarchy of cells. The students created skeletons and filled them up with the organs of the bodies systems. They had a great time doing this and the bodies turned out fantastic.
This week in science we are going to be discussing plant structure and how plants survive. The students will be bringing home homework, so please make sure you are checking agendas for this. Great website- Biology4Kids.com
Campbell’s Social Studies-
The students finished a unit on prehistory and ancient Mesopotamia. They created posters depicting, how they lived, movement, how water affects civilizations, the religious aspects of a civilization, and the social classes of a civilization.
This week we will be incorporating these same concepts while we read and look at ancient Egypt.
Campbell’s Elective-
The students just finished a quick three paragraph essay using a simple sentence. They found appropriate adjectives and adverbs to complement their story. Can’t wait to read them.
This week we are going to concentrate on reading comprehension. We will be reading speed reads and answering questions.
As Always,
Thank you for Caring,
Thank you for Sharing,
Ms. Campbell and the 6th grade team
