Happy Mid Month- 913/917

Parents!!!!!
Hello all, Hope things in your world are spinning wonderfully.  We are once again at the middle of the quarter.  Quarter progress reports will go home this Wednesday.  Please remember that these are just progress reports and the students all still have four more weeks to improve are maintain the grade that they have.  Many students still need to get themselves organized.  If I can have the help of all the wonderful parents to remind their child/children, that the lockers are for storing things not needed at a given time.  They are not to be used for poster hang ups, socializing, and just shoving your stuff into.  We the teachers are still noticing that many students are using the locker time to socialize instead of going to the restroom.  Again, please remind your child to use the lockers appropriately.  Thank you.

Campbell's Science-
This week we will be taking our unit test on the Scientific Method and Variables.  We will also be creating Pinwheels for Peace.  This promotes tolerance, and harmony among individuals.  We will then be moving into the cell and cell systems.   We are going to be discussing diverse individuals who have made contributions to science, and we are going to conduct another investigation- Making Drop Prints- The students will conduct the investigation and measure distance.  They will notice patterns and draw conclusions about the relationship between height and width.

Campbell's Home Room Social Studies-
In Social Studies this week we are going to have our unit test over culture.  The students will create a culture collage about themselves using magazine cut outs.  From there we are going to dive right into the five themes of Geography.  The students will read, discuss, fill out graphic organizers, and learn new vocabulary about the 5 themes.

Campbell's Home Room Writing-
We have switched the Elective block to a Writing block.  For this weeks writing, the students will be creating an insect or animal that they would like to become.  They will then write a Narrative about, How, Who, What, Where, When, and Why they are that insect or animal.  In a Narrative details are the most important thing.  When you help your child with this homework, please make sure they are adding an explosive amount of details, many, many, adjectives and adverbs.

I encourage and want all parents if you can, to please help your child with all homework.  Give direction and guidance.  Homework is to complement what is happening in class, it is not busy work.

I am going to be doing many experiments and investigations in science class, and I am looking for donations to help curb the expense of some of them.  If any parent has the ability to donate it will truly be appreciated.
Donations of:
Magazines, baggies of all kinds and sizes, napkins, paper plates, paper bags (lunch size), construction paper, clear cups, food coloring, and anything else you think can be used in science.  I will always be updating the list as donations come in.  Please donate even if it is only one thing on the list.  Thank you so much.
Next week your child may come home and say that they need fruit for an experiment, this will be true.  I am going to try to have the students build plant and animal cells.  I will keep you posted.

All home work can be found in student agenda.  I am also making agenda sheets that the students who do not have an agenda can use.  So parents, please check agendas and agenda sheets daily.  My homework sometimes changes so I am not going to post any.  If you have any concerns about this you can e-mail me and I will gladly tell you what the homework was for the day.

Thank you for caring,
Thank you for sharing,
