It has come to the attention of the 6th grade team that many students are not exhibiting excellent character. So I have decided to remind everyone, Character is:
1. How you act when no one is looking.
2. How you treat others.
3. What words you choose to use when talking about others.
4. Putting yourself in someone else's shoes.
5. Showing empathy towards others.
6. Cleaning up a mess even when you did not create it.
7. Showing others how to act through example.
Now I know there are many other ways to show excellent Character, these are just a few. Let's all try to rise to the challenge of being People of Excellent Character.
Thank You for Caring,
Dream Big!!

August 30th through September 3rd
Well we are off and running. We just finished our first test on the Scientific Method. The students did pretty good, and I think they had fun doing the investigation Reaction Time. Many students aren't finishing home work. Please make sure that you check agendas for homework assignments.
This Week- we are going to be starting our unit on Culture. What makes up a culture, what changes culture and societies, and how cultures change over time. Talk to your child about your family past and present cultures. What is your heritage, what foods and clothes did your ancestors wear, etc.
Homework for culture- Students will ask parents about grandparents culture and write a story about it. Also please have students bring in magazines to be cut up for a cultural collage.
Science- This week we are concentrating on observing the world around us. We will be doing several activities that will have the students organizing objects in different ways. We will also be learning about Variables within a science investigation.
Homework for Science-
Monday: Students will look at night sky and write everything observed. (Details)
Tuesday: Students will write the rules to their favorite game so someone else will be able to play the game.
Wednesday: Students will complete an organizational work sheet
Thursday: Students will complete a Simpson's Variable work sheet
Friday: No homework :)
We will also be beginning Dibbles Assessment, so make sure you bring a book for silent reading.
I hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend and is well rested.
Remember; Nothing happens unless you dream, so dream big!!!!
Always remember to stop and smell the roses too.
Thank you for always caring.

The First Weeks of School :)
Well, we have all had an exceptionally busy week at school. The students finally got their lockers and they are sooooo excited to be in them. Many still need to learn how to figure out the locks, but that will come with time. Science class is progressing, we are studying the Scientific Method. The science fair is just around the corner, so, start thinking of the experiments that you might like to do.
The students designed a folder for their portfolio in science. They were fantastic.
We also created a character tree. The students of the whole 6th grade team created an animal, leaf, fruit, flower, or anything that could compliment a tree. We then colored them and put them on the community class tree. The tree represents our team class unity. The students had fun creating it, and they are having fun looking at all the art. Parents are encouraged to come and take a look at it.
Homework in Science today- No Homework. Come to class rested and prepared.
Thank You for Caring :)
